One week until SFWA nominations close

There is only one more week left until nominations close for the Scotlands Finest Woods Awards 2019. The closing date is Sunday 31st March 2019 and no late entries are accepted.

There is something for everyone with six categories: unique for 2019 is the one-off 1919 Forestry Act Centenary Award to mark the centenary of this important Forestry Act that has helped influence the way Scotland’s trees, woods and forests have been managed and nurtured over the past 100 years.

Introduced in 2018, the Farm Woodland Award is now expanded into two competitions for an active farmer/crofter anywhere in Scotland and also a new competition especially for young people whether the active farmer/crofter and/or their forester/woodland manager or one person in both roles!

We provide our lovely MagPosts to the winner and runners up of the Schools Awards .

Other categories include the Community Woodlands Award (two competitions – small and large woodland groups), New Native Woods Award, and the Quality Timber Award (three competitions – new commercial wood, multi-purpose forest or whole estate, and a single stand or compartment or small wood).

Entries can be from anywhere in Scotland and full details are available at the Awards section of the SFWA website. If you need inspiration or wish to see who won in 2018 look at the Roll of Honour and/or list of previous winners.

You can also follow them on Twitter and on their Facebook page.
