Caledonia Play installed the following:
The final design has two towers (1.8m and 2.5m high respectively), linked by a 5.0m rising rope and timber bridge, with different access and exit points to both towers.
Access and exit points include:
Timber ramp with pull rope
Arched stainless steel ladder
Stainless steel spiral ladder
Vertical rock climbing wall
Stainless steel slide
Stainless steel pipe slide
As the safety surfacing is wood chip, the base of each tower has a ground-level deck to provide a solid platform for younger children to use - as well as adding to tower stability and structural strength.
Brodie Castle Case Study
Brodie Castle is set in acres of gentle Moray countryside and has been the ancestral home of the Brodie clan for over 400 years.
The Castle is a wonderful place with the unique history, the art collection and the adventure playground being a few good reasons to visit. Visitors in spring are in for a treat when the extensive grounds are carpeted with over 100 varieties of daffodil.
The project remit was to provide an alternative to an existing structure, one that would be in-keeping with the woodland setting and provide a challenge for older children (a junior park area was already on site).
Robinia logs and waney-edge boards were used as they retain the natural shape and bends of the tree, ensuring a unique and individual appearance to the tower.
The space was restricted so the design had to take into account the sloping ground and natural obstacles.
Repair work and servicing of the existing equipment was also carried out, and a full RPII inspection and report was provided for the complete site.
